Often with a pejorative connotation, the label "Made in China" is present on many of our everyday products. At Oraije, we have decided to break the many prejudices that this label carries. This is why we present to you "Made in China - and proud", an article that traces the origins of our products, from their design to your wardrobe, in complete transparency.

STEP 1

Our adventure begins in the office of Jessica, collection director. It is in Paris that Jessica imagines each piece. Inspired by the modern woman, our designer seeks to respond to the problems encountered by her. From her comfort to her aesthetics, Jessica imagines cuts to give women confidence in their daily lives. Particular care is taken in the choice of threads that will make up the fabrics, ranging from the number of weaves per centimeter to the direction of the thread.

STEP 2

Jessica's ideas travel the globe to arrive in China, in Guangxi, in our first workshop. Here, cotton threads are woven to obtain our denim canvas.

The fabrics from this workshop meet several strict criteria, allowing them to bear the Standard 100 label and thus promising items without substances harmful to health.

STEP 3

Our beautiful denim canvases then take the road to Guangzhou, to reach our next workshop where they are stacked on top of each other to be cut into the desired shape. Then, the different pieces are sewn with undeniable know-how to obtain raw jeans.

STEP 4

We are still in Guangzhou but this time in another workshop for an essential step: the treatment of the canvas "the wash". Indeed, without this step, all our jeans would have the same shade. This can be achieved with different processes. However, this step has a significant environmental cost. This is why we are testing new techniques in order to be more responsible.

First, we opt for a clean water wash for the pieces that allow it. Then, we use a salt and stone washing technique for those that require different treatments to obtain the desired shade.

The absence of chemicals allows the reuse of water on several products. Currently, we are testing ozone washing, one of the most environmentally friendly methods.

STEP 5

Back in the workshop, the final touches such as adding buttons and closures are made. Once the product is finished, it goes through technical control to ensure its quality and durability. All sizes of our jeans are checked to ensure compliance with the size chart and thus provide you with flattering cuts.

STEP 6

Heading to the port of Guangzhou, where our products are ready for shipment.

STEP 7

And after a long journey,

the cargo is received at the port of Le Havre.
